Feeling pretty good about the results thus far. This is my 5th day and another Diet Day. Just had my first Premier Protein Drink and time to move on with the rest of my day. I am down 9.5 pounds and blood sugars at 7.1 mmol/L. I tried to coax my scale into showing a 10 pound loss, but it refused to move any further lol.

I am seeing my doctor today. Our medical system is in chaos lately. I made this appointment on April 23rd and this was the soonest I could see him. At that time I was still suffering from acute back pain (6 hour hospital visit on March 15th). I know a lot of this pain is due to my being overweight and I have always suffered from this. This time was different though. It wasn’t just muscle spasms, but rather a sharp pain in my spine.  I know I also have degenerative disc disease which may account for this.  Anyways, I am hoping my doctor will be able to refer me to an MRI or Cat Scan to see what is actually happening.

Because of the back pain, I wasn’t even able to walk around the block, and this pain continued until a few weeks ago, What happened is that I went for a longer than usual walk and my back felt so much better after that exercise.  I guess I just needed to push myself past the pain in order to strengthen my back muscles. So, the next few days I walked more and more and was starting to feel pretty good.

And then….an old injury recurred.  I have osteoarthritis in my left knee. I was diagnosed with about 5 years ago.  I was referred to an orthotic specialist and was given custom inserts for my shoes. It seems my left knee is always pushing outward, causing bone on bone, Anyways, that was 5 years ago, A few years ago I stopped using this orthotic appliance and continued on. Since I wasn’t walking too much, it never really bothered me.  Until now.  My knee is in a lot of pain. I went back to the orthotic specialist and just re-cast some inserts, but they will take three weeks to prepare.

So, guess what? With this bum knee, I can no longer walk as far and yes, you guessed it, my back pain is returning. So, still hoping my doctor will refer me for an MRI or CT-Scan and also hoping since I am losing weight, that it will result in less pressure on both my back and on my knee.

Stay tuned for more drama 🙂
