Weight: 250 BMI: 32.1

Total Weight Loss: 53 pounds

Goal met 🙂  Reached my 250 pounds!!

Well, I know you’ve all been waiting with great anticipation for this lol. As you can see, my face, shoulders, arms etc. have all lost mass / weight as well as some of my belly. I have still at least another 25 pounds (+/-) to lose there, but this will have to come off slower, as today I am ending my 60 day juice reboot (61 days actually).

happy weight loss

Yesterday I went out shopping for some groceries so that tomorrow I can make my first (somewhat) solid food. Excited to sit down with a bowl of healthy soup 🙂

Happy birthday to my little brother Rob today!

Oh man…1 more pound to go to meet my goal!

I just want to recap what I think is probably the most important thing I learned in this journey. Previously I had the bad habit of eating something for breakfast (usually toast) and then sitting down to work. I would then work all day, having only 2 cups of coffee in the morning. I wouldn’t drink any water during the day and around 3 or 4 pm I’d start feeling hungry. I’d force myself to hold off until supper time, by which time I’d be famished and wolf down a huge meal – quickly.

I always thought that to satiate my hunger, I would need to fill up with bulk. I mean when you feel hungry and it means your stomach is empty, and needs to be re-filled. Right?

nutrition and juice rebootWhat this reboot has taught me is that what makes hunger go away is not the amount of food we eat, but rather the amount of nutrients we receive. There are times when I feel hungry even now, but when I drink a 500 ml mason jar of my mean green juice, my hunger sensation goes away. And this is mostly water….heavily fortified with all kinds of nutrients though. All of these nutrients trigger the brain in such a way as to say, “I am no longer hungry”!

I also drink at least 2 liters of water very day, on top of my 1 1/2 +/- liters of juice per day.  Water is so important and in fact, a recent study has shown that most North Americans are dehydrated and don’t even know it!

The problem with so many of the “junk” foods and “processed” foods is that they are very poor in nutrients so to get what our bodies need, we need to load up. Eating nutrient enriched foods means we need to eat less.

Junk foods juice reboot

Bottom line for me when I return to solid foods. Eat more often (i’m thinking every two hours or so) and less amounts each time.  As long as I receive the nutrients my body needs, I won’t feel hungry.

My original intent was to reach 250 pounds (I started at 303) after a 60 day reboot. I have ONE pound to go, and still 4 days left until the end of the month. So, now I am trying to decide…do I start to transition out of my juice reboot once I hit the 250 pound mark, or do I keep going until the end of the month?  If I go to the end of the month, that will actually be on Thursday and it will be 61 days (31 in May and 30 in June). If I go the 60 days, I will be ending on June 29th, which is this coming Wednesday.  See what I’m doing here?  I’m rationalizing coming off my reboot a day early lol.

Whatever I decide, I know I am very happy with the results and that I have met my goal. I admit that I am a bit nervous about returning to food and possibly returning to old, bad habits.  My resolve remains strong though and I have a great many resources to fall back on for information and support.
